Our Team

Dr. Gregg Kamnetz’s undergraduate work was completed at Valparaiso University in Indiana where he later pursued optometry school at Indiana University. From that point on, Dr. Kamnetz has spent the next 25 years working as an optometrist in Austin, TX. In 2007, after 15 years of practice at his Barton Creek Mall location, Dr. Kamnetz relocated to the Westlake/Rollingwood area. In the optical community Dr. Kamnetz is known for his outstanding degree of customer service and high quality standards.

In addition to running his practice six days a week, Dr. Kamnetz is also a current member of the Texas Optometric Association and on the TSO Board of Directors.

Dr. Julie Phan OD, our pediatric specialist, earned her Bachelor of Science at Baylor University and her Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry (NECO) in Boston, where she was an inaugural member of NECO’s Pediatric Concentration program. She completed externships at renowned institutions, including Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and Children’s Mercy Hospital, and later pursued a Pediatric Optometry residency. Her residency training covered areas such as amblyopia, strabismus, ocular pathologies, refractive error, and myopia management.

She is a member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology & Myopia Control (AAOMC) and currently serves as Vice President of the Central Texas Optometric Society.

Dr. Lisa Cantrell was born in Florida but raised in Texas. She decided while still in High School that she would pursue optometry. She attended Baylor University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with Honors. Then she was on to complete her goal of becoming an optometrist. Dr. Cantrell received her Doctorate from the University of Houston College of Optometry with Honors in 2006.

Outside of the office, Dr. Cantrell loves to travel, enjoys watching old movies, and attempting Pinterest projects. She also has a heart for animal rescue and has 3 dogs and 3 cats from the Humane Society.
